Job Description:
• Manage/Administer team operations; participate in strategic planning and implementation of strategic plans as they relate to the branch • Manage team workflows, ensure that the team is following SOPs (Standard Operation Procedures) and company guidelines, while meeting benchmarks set for the branch office • Create new procedures and update SOPs, as needed, to ensure consistent, high-quality work by each team member • Become knowledgeable of all carriers that are represented and product lines • Evaluate submissions for acceptability to company underwriting guidelines and distribution to underwriting staff for quotation • Become knowledgeable of policy and binder set-ups • Perform agency visits and build JM Wilson presence in the marketplace for the state • Prepare and execute semi-annual performance job reviews for each team member • Travel to home office, insurance companies, and state conventions as well as customer offices • Attend semi-annual strategic planning meetings, including those for planning annual budgets and benchmarks • Conduct underwriting audits • Monitor and encourage team to contribute ideas to the ideas/suggestions database as well as implementation of suggestions • Maintain/purchase equipment and furniture as needed; this also includes all office space issues with building owner/management company • Ensure that the office has the correct computer hardware and software • Work with Human Resources for hiring new associates and on all personnel issues • Support weekly training sessions of the team to educate associates online of business issues and company underwriting guidelines and forms/endorsements; this helps to maintain staff’s knowledge of any changes by the companies and industry • Perform other duties at the direction of senior management
Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in any field, plus 2+ years of experience in managing people • Experience in leading hybrid or remote employees is a plus • Pay will be commensurate with experience level • Local candidates preferred; this role is onsite in our Carmel, IN branch office • Ability to travel as needed; percentage will vary in these unique pandemic times • These certifications/skills are a plus: • Surplus Lines license to countersign policies • Residency to countersign policies • CPCU • AAMGA classes • CIC
